Is poetry Enough?

In this time of anixiety fueld by fear we decided to have a BHM event for the sake of sanity and humanity-

We are doing this to see how and what we can do together in the future-

Black History Month is the history we all share whether we know it or not-

Poets

Kwame Write Aidoo is a writer from West Africa. performer- word artist and social- cultural commentator-

He is the author of the folk science fiction chapbook  Ananse Makers- He is the founder and creative director of inkfluent; which organizes the annual project- The write Experience and Nkabom Literary festival in Ghana. He has collaborated in contempoary art installations- i.e Aurora Ekvatorialis National Museum, Oslo- He is currenty working on a audiovisual poetry album- We are  looing forward to hearing him-

Peter Rose– Peter is an icon in  abstract theater here as well as in New York

Cecile Rossant– poet – that is active on many fronts- her poetry will make you think and ask why do i feel as I do-

EB Davis – Known world wide as a The Blues Man- A great man with a heart of gold-

Anthony Baggette– Worth hearing-

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Location: Oranienstr. 58 a
Time: Sunday, 17Th of April, 10 – 18 h
This workshop aims to develop individual stories shared by refugees in Berlin coming from different backgrounds and having a wide range of experiences. The goal is to initiate an autonomous experience in storytelling where the author is not dependent on media to translate his journey but has the complete control over his past memories and current challenges.
‘My stories, my terms’ gives the lead to the refugees/authors to write, design and share their own stories, eliminating any sort of agenda, exploitation or external influence.

At the end of the workshop, The work of the participants will be compiled into a visual and textual outcome, written and produced by them. Participants will exchange their stories while ‘my stories, my terms’ will help these outcomes reach the widest audience possible.
تهدف هذه الورشة إلى تطوير القصص الفردية التي يتشاركها اللاجئون في برلين. يعتبر المشروع منصة مستقلة كلياً عن وسائل الإعلام، يملك المشاركون فيها زمام الأمور بشأن ترجمة وإيصال تجربة اللجوء الشخصية بما فيها الذكريات والتحديات الراهنة.
“قصصي حقي” مساحة تفاعلية حرة للاجئين في برلين على اختلاف مشاربهم، تمكّنهم من إطلاق العنان لمواهيهم في كتابة وتصميم ومشاركة قصصهم الخاصة بمنأى عن أي شكل من أشكال الاستغلال الإعلامي والتأثيرات الخارجية.
في ختام الورشة سيتم توثيق النصوص المكتوبة والتصاميم في منشورات أو كتيّبات تُوزّع على المشاركين وتتكفّل “قصصي حقي” بإيصالها إلى أكبر شريحة ممكنة من الجمهور.
WHO CAN ATTEND?
 
Refugees of all ages with an interest in storytelling, writing, public speaking and social work. No professional requirements in writing or design.
