The Objective of this conference is to continue working together, learning from one another and networking. it is a step towards empowering our struggle and breaking the isolation between refugee/ activists and the population. Blacks and whites together for human rights would like first to cultivate common hands and interact in a participatory way.
Second, to present the results achieved to the public in order to make self-organized resistance visible and to show alternatives to the isolating asylum policy.
Third, it is to cultivate common resistance strategies for future cooperation in order to counter the discriminatory refugee’s policy.

The exchange is intended to overcome isolation so that we can strengthen our struggles and work together. Moreover, the aims to strengthen solidarity and connections between people (refugees, supporters, the public) and to counteract isolation. We expect that refugee’s movement will be strengthened and motivated through the exchange and the joint expansion of the movement, to ensure that the strategies of refugees/individuals and activist groups are shared. The results will be recorded in the form of a presentation for the public and made available to all groups for their further work and future collaboration.

On 31/1/2021 at 21:00 we have a continuation of a workshop about Sudanese refugees from Schaumberg/Niedersachsen online to discuss the refugee’s situation.

This is the 4th workshop now. We are not going to be silent, until the deportation is stopped, until the isolation of refugees is broken, and until the primary, secondary, and universal rights of refugees are back. We know the system is gaining much on making refugees under constant stress, underlining the isolation of refugees from all corners of life. The disappointment, aggression of refugees and conflicts is the system’s success, but we are going to win it, if we come and gather our voices and strength again this system. We call upon your solidarity!

Sudanese and Sudan issue is invisible one of the ways to make it visible is to do these workshop, or you can bring you ideas as well.

Update:

On 21st of November 2020 at 12:00 PM, we will continue with the Sudanese refugees’ discussion on asylum policy in Germany on Skype instead of meeting at Bethanien. However, the workshop was about the situation of Sudanese refugees here in German and the situation in Sudan. It took place on 24th and 25th of October, and was directed to refugees from Sudan living in Germany. Their situation is extremely bad: in terms of human treatment, education opportunities, self-determination, and their daily life in Sudan and in Germany. The main question of these Sudanese refugees’ is why they are not given any opportunity in Germany?

Therefore, this skype talk will discuss how to bring the issue to the public. If any of you like to participate in this, send us a email: bw.humanrights (at) yahoo.com.

We have a conference about refugees mainly from Schaumberg / Niedersachsen to discuss the refugees’ situation: what is the refugees’ situation in the camps right now considering coronavirus and how should the activists and others support? If there is any new development on refugee issues?

As we know, the systematic isolation of refugees, deportations and rejected applications put refugees under constant stress. They reinforce isolation from the EU by combining all functions of immigration and refugees’ control such as the Dublin III regulation. Refugees are permanently exposed to external and internal controls, authorities; institutions have constant access to their private life. This creates frustration and aggression for refugees, and even conflicts between refugees to fight each other as the order of the day. Refugees are presented to the population as a danger, as illegitimate supplicants – but asylum is a human right!

People who support refugees are criminalized. Refugees and activists are often played off against each other. But there is resistance. Not only in Berlin, but everywhere where they are exposed to repression and discrimination, refugees come together and fight for their rights. Together with local initiatives, they break the isolation and form networks of solidarity. This creates access to legal support. that many people in the asylum and residence are otherwise denied.

Above all, however, these activist networks stand for a very concrete political vision of living together in solidarity, which represents an alternative to the anti-migrant, nationalist, racist and patriarchal patterns of thought and action of right-wing movements and parties.

Unfortunately, many of these solidarity initiatives and self-organized movements are often poorly networked and have few resources. There is also a lack of concrete strategies and methods, both regarding the internal conflict dynamics in heterogeneous groups and regarding dealing with state repression, police violence, right-wing agitation, and deportations. Better networking, the exchange of experience and awareness are required here. This is important now. Therefore, coming together to discuss and share the experience is our strength.

The event will take place on 24 and 25/10/2020 from 12 AM to 3:PM in New Yorck / Bethanien (Mariannenplatz 2a, Berlin-Kreuzberg). Due to coronavirus we can have only have 10 people on board. Others will participate online, using skype etc.

Each participant has to write him_herself in a list. The distance rules must be maintained. Wearing a mask is recommended.

Please contact us through bw.humanrights@yahoo.com, if you want to participate.

Invitation: MRIYR – Carnival and Conference 2017 https://www.oplatz.net/invitation-mriyr-carnival-and-conference-2017/ https://www.oplatz.net/invitation-mriyr-carnival-and-conference-2017/#respond Mon, 12 Sep 2016 10:40:25 +0000 https://www.oplatz.net/?p=11335 carnival-megaphone-jpg

Please Spread the invitation!

Dear Friends,

MRIYR would like to invite our all supporters on 14th September to
plan our actions for the next year. We’ll meet at 7pm at Schaubühne
Cafeteria and then we’ll go to the meeting room. If you come late ask at
the Cafeteria. (*Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz. Kurfürstendamm 153, 10709
Berlin)

In 2017 we want to organize a demonstration/Carnival & The International
Refugees and Migrants Conference (Which took place last february in
Hamburg). Both with the agenda to improve the living situation of
refugees and migrants.

On Wednesday 14th September we want to plan
1) the strategy to get our demands and
2) to plan/structure our actions for 2017

Living situation in Refugee Camps is getting worse. Private service
provider companies don’t care about anything and they deal the people in
many discriminative ways. In many of the Heims refugees don’t receive
money for the food because Heim service provides them food and companies
get paid for it. Many refugees suffer this situation and they are unable
to cook / eat what they want. Why people have to live in the Heims in
such a poor situation?
Why Refugee Camps don’t allow the media inside ? Which restrictions they
impose on Refugee who live in the Camps? Why they don’t give the
internet access to refugees and help them to get connected with the
world. Many of the Refugees just get stuck in the Heims because they
can’t find language Schools. This is also responsibility of private
service provider companies to take care of every individual and help
them to get engaged in language school, Job, internships or cultural
activities etc. Refugees should become part of the society!
We demand everybody to take necessary actions on it. We as MRIYR will
support the Refugees for their basic Right. They should have a place
where they can ‘feel home’.

Looking forward to see you all!

Best Regards,

Samee

WE ARE HERE AND WE WILL FIGHT
FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT IS EVERYBODY’S RIGHT!

The Refugee Conference https://www.oplatz.net/the-refugee-conference/ https://www.oplatz.net/the-refugee-conference/#respond Fri, 05 Dec 2014 09:01:41 +0000 http://asylstrikeberlin.wordpress.com/?p=5694 Our three days long refugee conference came to an end. The most important aspect of this conference was that from beginning to end, all its planning and organization were all under the initiative of refugees. Compared to our previous conference, the number of refugees in the total number of participants was significantly higher. However the number of participants of the conference in general was lower than what we expected. Many speakers also asked “why the participation to the conference is low”.

Already one of the aims of our conference was our movement to pull itself together, breathe and gain dynamism again. In fact the low attendance to the conference is not a thing that cannot be understood. The state wants to suppress our movement. Yet they could not manage to completely liquidate our movement however by dividing our power, they made it a bit disorganized.

Sustaining the dynamism of the movement depends on two factors. First of them is organization, second is the space. Without an organization, it is impossible to maintain the movement’s continuity. Without a space of the movement, it becomes hard to gather strength and reach everybody at any time.

As a result of the attacks of the state towards to the refugee strikes, refugees went to places far away from the center and nearly all the places given to refugees evacuated by police force. We are finding places for housing to the hundreds of people who became homeless through our supporters. These places are also temporary.

Also refugees from other cities had come to the refugee conference. From the active refugee groups, in the form of committees participation to the conference is ensured. The atmosphere of the conference was quite political. For example, a refugee friend gave examples from revolutionary symbols such as Lumumba and Thomas Maissere in the speech.

In the conference, many problems such as the communication problems, organizational problems and publication activities has been discussed. As a result of the discussions by splitting into various groups, we have worked on more concrete planning in small sessions. Finally, we formed working committees that would realize these plans.

In the refugee conference, there were resisters that we met before but also there were ones that we met for the first time.

Our resistance place in Oranienplatz will be made active again. We have already started to do it before by forming groups. For the activities to be more productive, more refugees should make Oranienplatz their beaten track. The refugee resistance is not limited to finding housing alone. In fact sometimes when our people find places to stay, they stay away from the resistance. Temporary sleeping places carry no meaning for a free life. Therefore since the beginning we said that we have no other ways to creating pressure other than to continue the resistance on street.

Although our refugee resistance has some negative aspects, it in fact proceeds by noting important gains. For example as a result of the pressure created by our movement, some little reforms are made. A refugee who demands an asylum will have the right to work after three months. The food packages given in the refugee camps are removed, from now on everybody will be paid monthly. Also to some extent the ban of travel has weakened. On the other hand, some institutions of the state are discussing to budget for creating shelters for refugees.

While there are some reforms due to the pressures created, at the same time new laws about isolation has been passing. The authorities at ministry of internal affairs expressed that there is a serious increase in the number of refugees in Germany and functioning of the laws about deportation is quite slow. They declared due to this fact, they need a new law which would make it possible to execute the deportation sentences faster.

They couldn’t execute the evacuation sentence that the municipality agreed. The court decided that the school should not be evacuated. However this doesn’t mean that they won’t excavate. The just don’t want to create again a social reaction by making a police operation in great scale again. That’s all. They just want to carry out a tactic that is extended over a period of time.

Our effort to disseminate our dynamics that we created by beginning from the lowest class of social classes continues. Our collaboration and works with students’ movement, the struggle against dispossession, grassroots unionist movement and artist movement also go on. The struggle associations that we formed together with these groups both create a dynamism for them and makes it possible to create a social pressure against the state. This pressure leads to stops on the state terrorism against our movement.

We made our media group to operate more active. As the media group, we have published a publicity declaration. We are working on works such as internet usage, writings and shooting movies. We made publishing and distributing more effectively the magazine that we had published a proof of it, one of the main topics of the conference.

The supporters of the refugee conference were not the old supporters. There were lots of new people and all these friends acknowledged the initiative of the refugees. They respected the fact that all initiative is in the hands of the people who resist.

The supporters who were chief cooks and bottle washers cooked both vegan, vegetarian and meals with meat. By this way, an equal situation, respecting everybody’s choice is formed.

We shoot the short movie that we screened on the conference also by ourselves. As well the musical performance was made real by our efforts.

A law committee who gave some legal information also attended the conference. People made presentations about the ways to carry out the struggle through law, rights and legal system.

In the end of the conference action calendars and new meetings were set. People contacted with each other. The participants of the conference left it contentedly.

Many of the resisters that we were together in various protests are in different cities. Thanks to the conference, we fulfilled our longings with comrades that we haven’t seen each other for years.

Long live our Humanization and Collective Struggle

Oranienplatz’daki direniş yerimiz yeniden aktif hale getirilecek.
DGB sendikasını birlikte işgal ettiğimiz ve Berlin’i dışından gelen mülteci arkadaşlara, bağlı bulundukları mülteci kampları çeşitli yaptırımlar uyguluyor.
Kontaklar kuruldu. Konferansa katılanlar memnun olarak ayrıldılar.
Değişik eylemlerde bir arada olduğumuz birçok direnişçi değişik şehirlerde bulunyorlar. Konferans saypesinde yıllardır birbirimizi göremediğimiz yoldaşlarımızla da hasret gidermiş olduk.

Call for support to the refugee conference at Mehringhof https://www.oplatz.net/call-for-support-to-the-refugee-conference-at-mehringhof/ https://www.oplatz.net/call-for-support-to-the-refugee-conference-at-mehringhof/#respond Mon, 10 Nov 2014 09:40:37 +0000 http://asylstrikeberlin.wordpress.com/?p=5075 Nov. 14th  – 16th there will be the Refugee Conference at Mehringhof in Berlin

The conference is organized by and for people, who are positioned as refugees in Berlin and surrounding areas in Brandenburg

We are a small group of supporters, who are trying to help out with some of the infrastructure. We are not involved in the actual conference program, nor do we think we should be. So, in order for the activists to meet and focus on their issues, a lot of stuff is needed, specifically interpreters, child care, food, sleeping  places, and some general stuff.

CALL FOR SUPPORT – this is the Email were you can make contact if you have anything to offer ohme@riseup.net

It would be so great if you and/or your groups and projects could help out with the following:

1. Interpreters for the following languages – mainly to/from English French to and from (these are some suggestions – any additional

languages welcome!): – Arabic – French – Farsi – Spanish- Bambara – Turkish – Romani – Italian – Urdu

It is expected that the main conference languages will be English and French. Hence, we thought it best to have one meeting

of all translators/interpreters before the conference to talk about how to coordinate different translation situations.

We are trying our best to organize headsets. If you have any ideas as  to where to get them and how to set them up,

please let us know 🙂 If you are interested, please let us know, which languages you can interpret to and from and for how long you

can imagine to do so (e.g. “French Arabic; 2×1.5 h with break”).

If you would like to help please e-mail ohme@riseup.net.

2. Child Care: It would be great to be able to offer child care. The best solution might be to have an extra group that is responsible

for preparing the space, figuring out what is needed (toys, arts and crafts stuff, etc.) and how to entertain the kids, covering the shifts, etc.

If you are interested, please let us know if you would like to be  part of such a group or might just want to cover a shift,

and if it’s ok to pass on your info to those, who are also interested.
If you would like to help please e-mail
ohme@riseup.net.

3. Food The conference organizers would like to make in possible for people to cook themselves, while supporters are being asked to get the necessary ingredients and help out cutting veggies, etc..

If you are interested, please let us know if you’d be up for food shopping and helping with the cooking.

Please e-mail ohme@riseup.net.

4.
Other stuff

  • Please collect: – BVG– and train tickets from now on – receipts from copy shops, office equipment, etc.
  • contacts, who can afford to donate compensations for services like translations, etc.
  • tobacco, filters, papers, cigarettes
  • cash
  • who would organize sleeping places for conference attendees
  • to organize transport to and from the conference
  • for organizing and setting up tech equipment, such as sound system; audio equipment for translations; computers; internet access

To organize a PARTY: the conference organizers would be happy if someone were to  organize a get together/party on Sunday.

Is there a group, who’d be up for doing that?

If you are interested in organizing sleeping places or the party and/or in helping out with transport and/or technical equipment,

please stop by at the conference orga meeting, which takes place every Friday around 7pm at Oranienplatz (in 28 doors).

Any help is welcome! Feel free to spread the word and to e-mail ohme@riseup.net for questions related to this mail.

Thank you and all the best.
