International Women* Space is pleased to share with you Angela Davis’ speech at Oranienplatz during the arts and culture festival “O-Platz wird 10 – Baustelle Migration” commemorating 10 years of refugee and migrant occupations of O-Platz and the Gerhart-Hauptmann Schule in Berlin Kreuzberg.

Angela Davis is a political activist, philosopher, academic, scholar, author and above all a revolutionary! When we thought about how we would like to mark the 10 years anniversary of the occupation of O-Platz and the start of our movement, we had the courage to dream of having Angela speak to us, many of us at O-Platz. And because dreaming is free, we went ahead and asked her, and, to our joy, she accepted our invitation.

The speech documented in this video is a lesson on the vestiges of colonialism and enslavement, and a reminder of women*’s power and leadership in struggles around the world. It is a speech about hope and our role as activists in transmitting hope, and it is also a speech about about freedom.

As Angela Davis says, remembering the song “Freedom is a constant struggle”, which is a freedom song that was repeatedly sung in the southern United States during the twentieth century freedom movement.

Umso wichtiger ist es, dass wir unsere Kämpfe weiterhin verbinden und uns vernetzen. Daher wollen wir das Einjährige des Denkmals, als einen Anlass nutzen, um zusammen zu kommen. Jamila is a Trans woman from Qatar who fled to Germany via Ethiopia. In Ethiopia she was jailed for nearly one year because she is a Trans woman. The German government ministry for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) wants to deport her back to Ethiopia. #JamilaBleibt!

We want to start with a remembrance of Ella, and also give common space for mourning and admonition.

In den Lagern von Berlin leben 20.000 Menschen, die einer Lagerindustrie ausgeliefert sind, die legal von der Zwangsunterbringung in isolierten Boxen profitiert. Die Lager sind näher an Gefängnissen als an Wohnungen. Diese Lager kooperieren mit mitternächtlichen Abschieberazzien, sie nutzen die Massenüberwachung durch einen Chip im Personalausweis und sie unternehmen nichts gegen rassistische Gewalt durch Sicherheitskräfte. Dagegen organisieren wir uns!

Wir stehen solidarisch zusammen gegen die rassistische Lagerindustrie in unserer Stadt und ihre entmenschlichende, stigmatisierende Masseneinlagerung von Menschen. Keine beschissenen Modulbauten, Tempohomes, NUKs oder jegliche Art von Segregationsbau! Wir werden kämpfen, bis alle Lager weg sind! Wohnungen für alle Menschen in Lagern!

Kommt am 9. Oktober ab 12 Uhr auf den Oranienplatz und später zur NBA-Küfa um 16 Uhr.

half a year after the last issue, we have managed to compile, translate and design a new issue. 10 pages strong, it comes as always in numerous languages (Farsi, Arabic, French, German, English, Turkish, Spanish). This time, many articles explore the repression and difficulties people have to endure in lagers, but also when it comes to repression by the state, the authorities, border police and, not to forget, the media and public discourse. But also, there can be found signs of empowerment, solidarity and common political struggle. Lastly, many calls and campaigns deliver important statements, reports and follow-up stories on previous stories. Support them, spread the word, get involved!

This brochure has gathered a list of corporations that profit from deportations, from managing detention centers, from building fences, selling ships, drones or planes patrolling the Mediterranean, subcontracted security guards, providing data collection, border surveillance software, id control mechanisms, racist policy consultation, prison construction and any other form of oppression that limits peoples freedom of movement and right to stay.

The external borders of Europe are not in Berlin, but the border regime is all around us. This regime consists of more than just the state. In capitalism, many forms of border oppression are subcontracted to corporations. Borders are very profitable. Therefore this market is dominated by huge multinational corporations. And since keywords of the European borders are militarisation and surveillance, the list of corporate border profiteers is full of the usual suspects that also profit from war, prisons and privacy infringement.

The goal of this booklet is to promote action in Berlin and Brandenburg. Hence the focus is very much on companies that have an office in Berlin or action possibilities based on local struggles.

Ich heiße Christophe und ich sitze seit dem 16. März 2021 im Abschiebegefängnis in Hamburg. Ich soll am 18. Mai 2021 nach Mali abgeschoben werden. In Mali herrscht Krieg und das Militär hat im letzten Jahr geputscht. Das Leben dort ist nicht sicher.

Um meine Abschiebung zu verhindern und mein Leben zu retten, brauche ich eure Hilfe. Ich hab bereits im letzten Jahr gegen meine Abschiebung gekämpft und ich werde mich weiter für mein Bleiberecht einsetzen.

Dabei kommen nicht nur die Anwaltskosten auf mich zu, sondern auch für den Fall meiner Abschiebung brauche ich Geld, um mein Leben zu retten. Mit dem Geld würde ich mir in Mali eine neue Existenz aufbauen. Ich möchte eine kleine Werkstatt eröffnen, wo ich mit Holz und Elektronik arbeiten kann.

Meine Zukunft ist ungewiss. Für den Fall, dass ich in Deutschland bleiben kann, brauche ich Geld, um weiter für meinen Aufenthalt zu kämpfen und ich würde das Geld benutzen, um andere bei ihrem Kampf um Bleiberecht zu unterstützten.

Every day, companies are profiting from the neocolonial and racist migration regime with its borders, surveillance and deportations. The offices and headquarters of such companies can be found right in the heart of Berlin. Nevertheless, barely anyone draws attention to that, while the German government tries to disguise and hide their deportation and weapon deals with these companies. We want to change that!

On 17th of April, we will visit each of their offices in a demonstration against Border and Deportation Profiteers through Berlin-Mitte. Let’s expose and confront them – their dirty business model has to stop now!

On our route, we will publicly shame Thales, Hensoldt, the Association of the German Army, Sopran Steria and all the others that are flying people to death, construct border fences and participate in other sorts of racist business, to then even make money with it.

Abolish borders, abolish Frontex, put an end to deportations, tear down Fortress Europe – freedom of movement for everybody!

THALES: Sells border surveillance systems, including radar for border police. Thales has profited from most borders in the world.

HENSOLDT: Formerly known as Airbus Border Security division, focusing now on ground surveillance radar, mostly used for border and coastal surveillance.

FÖRDERKREIS DEUTSCHES HEER: Lobby organisation for German army with representatives in the parliament and the economic sector.

SOPRA STERIA: IT software company responsible for designing EUs’ border database systems that track and share fingerprints, facial imaging, visas’ entry/exit.

„Wenn jemand, den man liebt, zur Erinnerung wird, wird die Erinnerung zum Schatz.“ Deshalb laden wir euch alle ein, am 07.04.21 zur Gedenkkundgebung für Rita Ojunge in Hohenleipisch mitzumachen.

Am 7. April 2019 verschwand unsere Schwester Rita Ojunge. Rita lebte mit ihren Kindern in einem Lager in Hohenleipisch, Brandenburg. Ritas Familie wollte wissen, was passiert war. Die Geflüchteten, die in dem Lager leben, forderten Gerechtigkeit für Rita und die Schließung des Lagers. Das Lager ist in einem sehr schlechten Zustand und absolut isoliert, umgeben von einem Wald

Die Polizei ließ viel Zeit vergehen, bevor sie Rita suchten. Erst zwei Monate nachdem Rita verschwunden war, begann die Polizei nach ihr zu suchen. Sie fanden die Überreste ihrer Leiche nur 200m vom Lager entfernt im Wald. Die rassistischen Verschleppungen in den Ermittlungen gehen weiter.

Jetzt, zwei Jahre nach Ritas Ermordung, könnte die Staatsanwaltschaft ihren Fall einstellen und das Lager in Hohenleipisch ist immer noch nicht abgeschafft.

Deshalb laden Women in Exile & Friends am 8. März, dem internationalen Frauentag, zu unserer antirassistischen und feministischen Demo in Cottbus ein. Der Treffpunkt wird am Cottbus Hauptbahnhof Nordseite um 10h sein.

Lasst uns Rita Ojunge gedenken und möge sie in vollkommenem Frieden und Kraft ruhen!

Lasst uns alle weiterhin Gerechtigkeit, die Fortsetzung der Ermittlungen und die Abschaffung aller Lager fordern!

Wir brauchen eine angemessene Prävention, Strafverfolgung und Sanktionierung von Feminiziden. Das Leben geflüchteter Frauen zählt!
