209 people from Sierra Leone on ‘strike of closed doors’ in the transit center Deggendorf

On Friday, 15th of December 2017, 209 people from Sierra Leone in the transit camp in Deggendorf started a ‘strike of closed doors’. In protest, the children and young people refused to attend the German class as access to other educational institutions is denied. The adults haven’t left the accommodation and denied to work in the 80 cents jobs. On Saturday, 16th of December 2017 they started a hunger strike. The protest involves 44 children and young people, as well as 40 women (among them 12 pregnant women) and 125 men. The starting point of the protest was the violent deportation of a man from Sierra Leone on Friday morning, which was stopped in the last minute at the airport.

****

Statement of striking refugees in Deggendorf

We are Sierra Leoneans seeking for protection here in Germany but have been frustrated instead of protected. And we have resolved to strike action based on the following reasons:

Every Asylum seeker from Sierra Leone in Deggendorf gets always negative results in the form of :

1. Dublin deportation
2. Rejection of asylum application
3. Asylum application is ‘invalid’

– The next point is that we now stay in a camp for 2 years instead of the initial 6 months, with no schooling, no work permit.

– Very poor accommodation facilities with 8 occupants in a room, with poor hygiene and toilet facilities.

– Very poor quality of food.

– Deportation to Italy with serious torture and no proper arrangements for reinstatement of the immigrants in Italy thereby leaving the immigrants on the street suffering.

– Forceful deportation of pregnant women, children, sick people and sucking mothers.

– No medication for immigrants for certain sickness.
And now established to us that this is a private camp and cannot allow any journalists.

On this basis we have started on 15th December 2017 a close door strike with no schooling and on Saturday 16th December and Sunday 17th December hunger strike and on Monday, we will be going to city council to get clearances to have a peaceful protest accross Deggendorf with continuation of no schooling and hunger strike.
This is to let the whole world know how Germany is treating the immigrants.

Kurdische Freiheitsbewegung

english below

We want a democratic Turkey!

How would you feel if you asked for your democratic rights and your government would respond with war? If tanks drove through your neighborhood? If snipers shot at you from neighboring rooftops?
That is exactly what is happening in eastern Turkey at the moment! Since the its foundation in 1923 the Turkish state has been oppressing the Kurdish and other ethnic groups. 1938, 1978 and 1993 are only a few of the dark years during which massacres were committed against people in Turkey. For 40 years the Kurdish freedom movement has been waging resistance against this state policy. 2013 was the latest attempt to start peaceful negotiations with the Turkish state. Direct talks between the political representative of the Kurds Abdullah Öcalan and high representatives of the Turkish state, unilateral armistices by the Kurdish guerilla, the establishment of grass-roots democracy in eastern Turkey and the parliamentarian struggle for democracy by the HDP were the most important steps towards a democratic Turkey. Since last June the Turkish state’s answer has been open war. Since then thousand of political activists have been imprisoned, freedom of press has been massively limited, over 50 curfews have been declared in Kurdish cities and about 300 civilians have been shot by Turkish “security forces”. If the German government does not seriously protest against this state terror, it will itself be responsible for the massacres committed in northern Kurdistan (eastern Turkey) and the abolishment of basic democratic rights in Turkey!
The Kurdish freedom movement does not want war but a democratization of Turkey! That is why grass-roots democracy has been established in the Kurdish regions of eastern Turkey in the last ten years. The people are thus creating alternatives to the state institutions. The aim is clear: grass-roots democracy, the liberation of women from patriarchy and an ecological society. In all cities and villages grass-roots structures have been established which govern all domains of everyday life: economy, education, security and law are just a few examples. The fight against patriarchal structures is most important: Women organize themselves autonomously in all domains of life. They found women cooperatives, educational academies and organize their own military self-defense. The Kurds are especially sensitive to ecological issues. Until the destruction of 4000 villages by the Turkish army in the 90s the majority of Kurds lived in small villages. Self-sufficient economy, ecological farming and sharing of goods were part of everyday life. In order to continue this way of life people try to return to their villages. At the same time people resist constantly against the huge dam projects of the Turkish state.
With our hunger strike we want to draw attention to the inhumane and short-sighted policy of the Turkish state! The democratization of Turkey is an urgent need!
Our demands are:

Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan!
Lift the ban of the PKK!
The German government must stop its support for the war policy of the Turkish state!

Hungerstrike of refugees in Munich https://www.oplatz.net/hungerstrike-of-refugees-in-munich/ https://www.oplatz.net/hungerstrike-of-refugees-in-munich/#respond Sun, 23 Nov 2014 10:50:19 +0000 http://asylstrikeberlin.wordpress.com/?p=5601 Again refugees come together to fight at Sendlinger-Tor-Platz in Munich for their rights, for their acceptance and for their participation in society. As medium for their protest they choose hunger strike:

“Our Rights Have Been Stolen

We, the refugees from different cities of Germany are announcing a hunger strike in Munich at Sendlinger-Tor-Platz.

Lagers/ camps  are prisons for us. Residenzpflicht/ residential obligation is a sign of slavery.  Restrictions of work and study are made to divide us from society and to force us to be in inhuman situations. Deportations by Dublin regulations are a sign of political organized policy from EU countries.

At this point we want to say we are not poor refugees, OUR RIGHTS HAVE BEEN STOLEN.

At this moment we are nowhere – we cannot return to our countries of origin, but we also cannot have a life in Germany, in these restrictions. We have been a part of different political activities in past and now we decide again that we will strike till we reach our freedom. We want to have basic human rights, we are not only demanding  a secure life, we are demanding to be treated as humans, to have rights as free persons. Considering that Germany includes round about 84 millions of people, by this only half million of them are refugees. This is not a big number for a very advanced country, it is nothing for a very rich country, for a country which is the world 3rd biggest weapon exporter.

We are humans we bring hundreds of talents with us. We want to live here.  When we accurse the countries where we never had any plan to stay, why we are going to be deported there. As well as we demand one and only that we want to live here, we want to have asylum here .We want to have basic human rights here.

To bee refugee was not our choice. But now our lives are in the hand of the government. Because we don´t want to go back, because we don’t want to be a part of any suicide bomb attack. To be a part of any political or civil war. We don’t want to be targeted by any drown missal or rocket. We don’t want to be a part of any state where hunger and thirst is waiting for us, because they steel our rights. We fled from our countries of origin, because we were not secure, because we asked there to have our rights, because we could not be quiet.

If you, Emilia Müller, minister of social affairs and you, Joachim Herrmann, minister for inner affairs think the Lager-system is human, we are asking from you to bring all German society to the Lagers we have to live in, or bring us into this society.

Because we will RISE”

*******************************************

We Will Rise!”

Demo, 19.07.2013 at 2pm in Eisenhuettenstadt https://www.oplatz.net/demo-19-07-2013-at-2pm-in-eisenhuettenstadt/ https://www.oplatz.net/demo-19-07-2013-at-2pm-in-eisenhuettenstadt/#respond Wed, 17 Jul 2013 21:29:12 +0000 http://asylstrikeberlin.wordpress.com/?p=3131 STOP THE DEPORTATION MACHINERY IN EISENHUETTENSTADT!
SOLIDARITY WITH THE REFUGEES IN HUNGERSTRIKE!

The refugees coming to Eisenhüttenstadt are getting systematically criminalized for taking their human right of asylum. They are tortured in many ways. This system works, because the police, the foreign office, the court and the company BOSS systematically excludes people from the rest of the german society and don’t let them know their rights! There is no transparency or watching of what is going on in the lager and the deportation prison.
The oppression in Eisenhüttenstadt forces people to try to kill themselves or even committ suicide. Since Friday eight imprisoned people are in hungerstrike. This wednesday Refugees and supporters from Berlin and Brandenburg built up a tent in front of the lager, thus trying to break the isolation of the people in the lager and in the deportation prison.

Each hunger strike is one too much! Strongly and united we want to oppose the inhuman isolation practices. The deportations and the cartel of silence and the non-transparent disappearance of undocumented people must be stopped!
We want to put all the members of the Eisenhüttenstädter deportation machinery under public pressure. It is unexeptable that people are imprisoned for using their basic right to asylum. We demand to stop all deportations, to close the deporation prison in Eisenhuettenstadt and sufficient legal and medical care!

Be there on Friday 19/07/2013 at 2pm during the demonstration in Eisenhuettenstadt.
Meeting place for the train is at 12 clock at Ostbahnhof, track 1, departing at 12.31 clock.
From the station we go together to the starting point in front of the lager.

Solidarity has to be practical!
Asylum is a human right!
