Two and a half years after the internationally organized March for Freedom, six activists are going to trial. During the day of action on May 5, 2014 there were thirteen brutal arrests at a demonstration on the Kirchberg in Luxemburg.

2 1/2 Jahre nach dem international organisierten March for Freedom sind 6 AktvistInnen in Luxembourg-Stadt angeklagt. Während eines Aktionstags am 5.6.2014 war es in Luxembourg auf dem Kirchberg zu 13 brutalen Festnahmen während einer Demonstration gekommen. Anlass war eine Tagung der EU-Innenminister zum Thema „Kampf gegen illegale Immigration.“

On May 15th we were talking with Turgay, Can and Faruk about resistance in the media, music and in the kitchen. Turgay is a marxist political activist, journalist and writer from Turkey and has been imprisioned in Turkey for 15 years and sentenced to death. When an Amnesty International campaign against his unfair trial finally helped to release him temporarily from prison he managed to escape to Greece only to find himself in prison like captivity in this country once again. He managed to escape anothere time and continue his flight to Germany only to find himself again confined to a prison like camp. In 2012 he took part in the march of the refugees from Würzburg to Berlin and stayed in the refugee camp on Oranienplatz. Since then he has been taking part in the protests against the denial of basic rights for refugees, other migrants and opression of socially marginalized people in Germany. He works in a cooking collective in Berlin and got to know Can and Faruk when serving food to the people being held in the former airport at Tempelhof, Berlin, Germany’s biggest camp for refugees. Both of them are forced to live in the former airport building, together with thousands of people being held in isolation from the rest of town in a city were for more than ten years only expensive flats for affluent consumers and investors have been build.

(anonym aus einem Gefängnis nach dem Militärputsch in der Türkei)

Am 15. Mai im Gespräch mit Turgay, Can und Faruk über Widerstand in Medien, Musik und Küche. Turgay, Journalist und Schriftsteller, kommt aus der Türkei, wo er als Marxist 15 Jahre lang ins Gefängnis gesperrt und zum Tode verurteilt wurde. Amnesty International organisierte eine Kampagne gegen den manipulierten Gerichtsprozess und half dabei, dass Turgay vorübergehend aus dem Gefängnis freikam. Bevor er erneut eingesperrt werden sollte gelang ihm die Flucht nach Griechenland, nur um dort erneut wie in einem Gefängnis festgehalten zu werden. Es gelang ihm weiterzuflüchten, nach Deutschland, wo er wiederum in ein Lager gesperrt wurde. 2012 nahm er am Protestmarsch der Geflüchteten von Würzburg nach Berlin teil und lebte im Camp der Geflüchteten auf dem Oranienplatz. Turgay macht mit in Berlin beim Protest der Geflüchteten und Migranten gegen die Verbote und Erniedrigungen mit denen sie in Deutschland zu kämpfen haben und beim Kampf der Vielen in Deutschland sozial an den Rand gedrängten. Er arbeitet in einem Koch-Kollektiv in Berlin und lernte Can und Faruk beim Kochen kennen im ehemaligen Flughafen Tempelhof, Berlin, Deutschlands größtem Lager für Geflüchtete. Beide leben interniert im ehemaligen Flughafen, zusammen mit tausenden anderer Menschen, in einer Stadt in der seit über zehn Jahren nur teure Wohnungen für potente Konsumenten und Investoren gebaut werden.

Oury Jalloh – Das war Mord – Burnt in a police cell in Dessau, Germany

Oury Jalloh starb im Januar 2005 in einer Polizeizelle in Dessau, er verbrannte. Die Polizei behauptet, er hätte sich selbst angezündet, an Händen und Füßen gefesselt auf einer feuerfesten Matratze. Die Initiative in Gedenken an Oury Jalloh sagt von Anfang an: “Das war Mord!” Sie konnte nachweisen, dass sich das Feuerzeug vor dem Brand nicht in der Zelle befand, der Feueralarm von den diensthabenden Beamt_innen mehrmals ausgeschaltet wurde und dass der Brand ohne Brandbeschleuniger völlig anders verlaufen wäre. Trotzdem sind die Verantwortlichen bis heute nicht bestraft worden und die Staatsanwaltschaft hält an der Unfall-These fest.

Am Freitag, den 9.9. um 20 Uhr, zeigt die Initiative in Gedenken an Oury Jalloh zusammen mit dem Wearebornfree! Empowerment Radio (We!R)  (Einlass 19:30) im «West Germany» (Skalitzer Straße 133, 10999 Berlin) einen Dokumentarfilm über den Fall Oury Jalloh, stellt die eigene Arbeit vor und freut sich danach auf Fragen.

Und am Sonntag, den 11.9., von 18 – 21 Uhr gibt es einen gemeinsamen Broadcast in der Waldemarstr. 46, im Rahmen von KottiFm (http://kotti.fm/) Im Radio auf 90.1 MHz, ab 19 Uhr auch auf 88.4 MHz in Berlin und 90.7 MHz in Potsdam.

Oury Jalloh died in January 2005 in a police cell in Dessau, Germany, he burnt to death. The police claims Oury Jalloh put himself on fire, tied on hands and feet to a fireproof matress. The Initiative in Rembemberance of Oury Jalloh made it clear from the beginning : «That was murder!». The Initiative could prove, that the lighter had not been in the cell before the fire started, that the firealarm had been turned off by the officers in charge for several times, and that the fire would have developed in a completely different way had there not been used fire accelerators. Yet, those who are responsible have not been punished till today and the Public Prosecutors office still claims it was an accident.

On Friday the 9th of September the Initiative in Rememberance of Oury Jalloh and Wearebornfree! Empowerment Radio (We!R) will show a documentary about the case of Oury Jalloh. We’ll present the work of the initiative and are looking forward to your questions.The film will start at 8pm (doors open at 7:30h) at ‘West Germany’ (Skalitzer Straße 133, 10999 Berlin, 2nd floor, staircase next to the optician Efendi, the staircase after the staircase of Monarch)
