Thursday, 25th of September at 14:30, Manifestation in front of the Lager in Eisenhüttenstadt
Demands of the protest in Eisenhüttenstadt
Friday, 26th of September: Gathering against the isolation in front of the refugee camp Tegel
Saturday, 27th of September, Oranienplatz Berlin: Parade – Let’s break the isolation! Let’s take back the streets together

20–27 September 2025 from Thuringia through Saxony and Brandenburg to Berlin
A week of protest, camping, swarming, empowerment, creative actions, demonstrations – ending in a united parade on 27.09.2025 in Berlin.
Ten years after the March of Hope and the so-called Summer of Migration, the situation for people on the move has worsened dramatically. Racist border regimes are being expanded, rights are being rolled back, and far-right forces are gaining strength across Europe. But we will not be silent.
We come together from different cities and struggles – as people affected by racist structures, as allies and activists, as local initiatives, housing networks, climate justice groups, feminist movements, care alliances, and anti-deportation campaigns. We are part of a transnational movement for freedom of movement and equal rights for all.
This caravan is our response – loud, collective, and unstoppable.

Our Demands
  • Stop all deportations. No one is illegal. No more Dublin transfers, no more expulsions to so-called “safe countries.” No Abschiebeknäste! Everybody should have the same right to decide where to live. Don’t tear families apart.

  • Freedom of movement for all – the right to go and to stay. Close all deportation camps, AnkER centers, and mass shelters.

  • Abolish the racist Bezahlkarte. Equal access to money, services, and dignity for everyone – no second-class treatment.
  • Housing is a right. End racist discrimination in the housing market. Stop forced evictions. Use public money for decent housing – not repression.
  • Abolish the Ausländerbehörde. No more humiliation, waiting, or fear. We demand security, dignity, and residence permits for all.
  • Stop the deaths at sea and all pushbacks. Politicians in Berlin and Brussels are driving the brutal externalization of the EU’s borders. We fight Frontex and demand safe passages – for everyone.
  • Right to work. Everyone must have the right to work, regardless of passport or status.
  • Family reunification now. Families belong together – stop the separation of loved ones through racist laws and delays.
  • Equal social and political rights for all. In healthcare, education, mobility, and beyond.

  • No to racism and fascism – in parliaments, police stations, and the media. We reject hate and fear.

  • No deals with fascists. We fight for solidarity from below and the right to a decent life – for all.
This is not just one week in September.
This is a movement to connect our struggles and build lasting solidarity across borders.
Join us on the road and in the streets!

Dear all,

this September, people on the move, migrant activists, comrades and allies marching from Thuringia to Berlin protesting against increased restrictions and inhumane migration and asylum policies in Germany. 2025 marks 10 years since the 2015 March of Hope, where thousands demanded their right of freedom of movement! We as alliance want to support and welcome our siblings in Berlin, that´s why we organise this protest camp. We are in solidarity with the Caravan for Free Movement that will take the streets from 20th to 27th September culminating in a Parade in Berlin on the last day.

The camp will take place from 20th September until 1st October at O-Platz, a place that has been a place of resistance, solidarity and community building for decades.

In 2012 people came from lagers all over germany and occupied O-Platz for 1,5 years, claiming right to asylum, a stop to deportations, the lager system, and abolition of residenzpflicht! Now, in 2025, as a result of restrictive policies, fortification of deportation prisons, push backs on EU borders, we as O-Platz movement take on the ongoing struggle!

We demand:
  • Stop all deportations. Freedom of movement is everyone’s right. No one is illegal. Everyone deserves safety and the right to choose where to live. Stop all deportations because of political reasons.
  • Asylum is a human right. Germany must learn from its own history. It caused people to flee in the past – and continues to do so today through itsborders, weapons, and economy. We demand to open all borders and call for support for sea rescue operations!
  • Abolish the camps and all deportation prisons – Housing for all! Isolation and control in mass shelters must end. People need real homes and a right to the city.
  • End the racist Bezahlkarte. Equal access to money and dignity for everyone – no more second-class treatment.
  • Abolish the Ausländerbehörde. Bureaucratic violence and fear must stop. We demand freedom from racist institutions.
  • Equal social and political rights for all. No more discrimination in education, healthcare, work, and mobility. Our lives matter.
  • Climate justice means migration justice. The Global North destroys homes and livelihoods through exploitation and war. We demand responsibility, not border fences. We demand an end to the policy of rearmament, an end to arms deliveries, and an end to the militarization of our society.
  • Make Berlin a Solidarity City. We want a city where everyone belongs – without fear, without borders, and without racism.

There will be discussions, workshops, music, films, getting together, and strategy talks on how to organize and fight together, and much more!

Let´s connect, learn from each other and make our demands loud and clear! Let´s unite and fight.

O-Platz lives!

Herkese selamlar,

O-Platz lebt!

BOS

Dragi svi,

Ovog septembra, ljudi u pokretu/izbjeglice, migrantski aktivisti, drugarice i drugovi i saveznici marširaju od Tiringije do Berlina protestujući protiv povećanih ograničenja i nehumanih migracijskih i azilantskih politika u Njemačkoj.

Organizirat ćemo diskusije, radionice, muziku, filmove, druženja i strateške razgovore o tome kako se organizirati i boriti zajedno, i još mnogo toga!

KUR

Hevalên hêja,

Di vê Îlona (Eylûlê) de, „People on the Move“ – aktivîstên koçber, heval û hevkarên me – ji Tirîngyayê ve ber bi Berlînê digerin, da ku li dijî siyasetên koçberî û panaberî yên bindest û ne mirovahî yên Almanyaê bêdengî nabe. Sala 2025 jî, 10 saliya Meşa Hêvîyê ya 2015’an e, dema ku hezarên kes ji bo mafê xwe ya azadiya tevgerê daxwaz kirin! Em wekî hevpeyvîn, dixwazin bi dil û can bi xwişk û birayên xwe yên li Berlînê re bistînin û piştgirî bidin. Ji bo vê yekê em vê kampa protestoyê rêxistin.

Kampa me ji 20ê Îlona heta 1ê Cotmehê dê di O-Platzê de be – cihê ku salan e di wê de berxwedan, hevpeymaniya civakî û avakirina civakê hate çêkirin.

Di sala 2012’an de, mirov ji kampan li hemberê Almanyaê hatin û O-Platzê girtin, û 1.5 salan ew cih dagirtin.

Ragirtina hemû vegerandinan, betal kirina kartê pereya ırkperest, mal û jiyanên xweorganîze, mafên wekhev yên civakî û siyasî, mafê mayînê ji bo her kesê û zêdetir!

Di kampê de dê hebe: gotûbêj, bengêhên xebatê, mûzîk, fîlm, civîn, axaftinên stratejî da ku em bi hev re çawa rêxistin û dijîn û gelek tiştên din! Wê hevaltiyê avabikin, bi hev fêr bibin û daxwazan xwe bi dengê bilind û vekirî bibêjin!

Yekbûn û berxwedanê bibin!

O-Platz dijî!

O-Platz живе!

VIET

(O-Platz)

O-Platz живет!

Our Kurdish people have always struggled for life https://www.oplatz.net/our-kurdish-people-have-always-struggled-for-life/ Tue, 25 Mar 2025 23:32:17 +0000 https://www.oplatz.net/?p=16736 Info-Event on Anti-Kurdish Racism 29 April 2024 in Berlin

by borderless collective, Arjin und Freunde

The info-event about anti-kurdish racism took place on 29.04.2024 at a self-managed space in Kreuzberg, Berlin, where various left-wing events, meetings and activities in general take place. The event was organized by the borderless collective and Kurdish activists who fled from Turkey to Germany. The idea of making an info-event to raise awareness of anti-kurdish racism in Germany  arose after massive racist attacks on the Kurdish community took place in the Tegel refugee camp, a former airport with major problems in terms of sanitation, privacy and also security. In order to spread the knowledge our Kurdish comrades shared with us we will publish the notes we took about this info event:

Activist 1:

We had to migrate to this country because it was what we had to do. I worked as a Kurdish human rights defender in Turkey. The Kurdish people have been struggling for almost 100 years since the establishment of the Turkish Republic. From the beginning, the Turkish state has always been promoted as one state, one religion, one culture, and the Kurdish people have always had to fight against that. The Kurdish people had to revolt 50-60 times against the Turkish state.

I witnessed it in the 80s, 90s and 2000s, but especially during the military courts in the 80s, the Kurdish people were put under pressure. They especially tried to ban the Kurdish language from the public spaces. For instance, we didn’t allow my mother to go out on the streets because she couldn’t speak Turkish, otherwise the police would have arrested her.

I was part of the Kurdish women’s movement, and I was selected by it also. You may have heard the slogan Jin Jîyan Azadî (In Kurdish: Woman, Life, Freedom) in the media after the state murder of Jina Amini in Iran two years ago. It originates from the 80s when 5 Kurdish women journalists were killed in Turkey. These women were only able to publish 5 magazines before the Turkish state pursued and murdered them.

Our Kurdish people have always struggled for life. We had to migrate and tell people about our situation. Almost 3000 villages have been destroyed since the 90s. These people had to leave all their lands, they had to leave behind everything they had in their lives. We live in poverty in Turkey or outside the country. All of Europe sees Kurds as immigrants bringing economic problems. But this war that has been going on for more than 50 years is making people poorer. We are experiencing the consequences of cultural and economic destruction. Especially in Germany, the percentage of Kurds whose asylum applications are rejected is more than 90 percent. This is too high. And still Germany wants us to prove that if we return to Turkey, we will have to go back to prison.

Because the war is not over, the war is still going on. Iran is still waging war. For example, Iran and Turkey killed Kurdish people at the same time. And now Turkey is in a war against Rojava. When Turkey started the war, European countries did not act like in other wars. When Kurds die, others will remain silent. And this is my last word: I am very proud to be part of one of the biggest women’s movements.

Activist 2:

The Kurdish people did not commit any genocide. They just wanted to live freely in their own land. The Kurdish people know how to be in solidarity with other peoples who share the same fate. Before the Kurdish struggle started, there was the Palestinian struggle. We are in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle because they are left-wing people and have a tradition of women’s liberation.

Because the Kurdish movement is leftist, we are always in solidarity with leftists all over the world. We reject classical nation states and propose confederalism. Many people have been killed because of nation states. Instead, we propose the idea of democratic confederalism so that people can live in peace. NATO, Russia, China have always cooperated with Turkey to fight the Kurds. Strategically, these countries do not want the idea of democratic confederalism. When democratic confederalism is established and will bring peace, the Iranian regime collapses. That’s why they don’t want this idea. We rely on our own power; we do not rely on other powers. We act in the interests of the people, not in the way of the state. We act in this way, but we also pay the price for it.

In 2023, 60,000 people applied for asylum, only 2,000 were accepted. People from Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq can get the refugee status more easily. Of course, we are not against this. They need the status, too. But it is not right for any migrant to be discriminated among others. We all share the same fate, but Kurdish people are discriminated a lot. In this month alone, 3 of our friends were deported to Turkey. In just one month 8 of our friends lost their lives. People came to live in safety as political people.

Kurdish people are forced to live in repressive states like Germany because they are forced into statelessness. At the same time NATO and the EU tried to close those camps. I was living in an autonomous camp with 800 Kurds and partly Syrians and Afghans where we were self-governing without any state or any other power. And we were not even isolated from people. This camp was in Greece. The Greek people always supported us. When the police came to evict us, the Greek people helped us. In this autonomous camp there were no patriarchal or militaristic values. Money had no value in this camp. Anyone who needed a place could come to this camp. Thousands of people came. This camp was destroyed because Sweden wanted to be part of NATO. And because this camp was destroyed, I had to come here. It was a place where we had our language and identity. It was very difficult for me because it was a very autonomous place and now, we must live under oppression again.

Not only the pressure of the classical German bureaucracy, but also Turkish racism. We were not part of any war against Arabs or other peoples, but because of the state of the states we were portrayed as enemies. When we go to Palestinian protests and we see Islamic or Turkish flags, we don’t accept that. We need to step back from that. And there is a slogan that should be banned in all demonstrations: Allahu Akbar (God is the greatest). They killed 38 of our people in a village using this slogan. ISIS also uses this slogan when they rape Kurdish women. So, you don’t want to go to a place where this slogan is used. But the Kurdish movement will always be in solidarity with the Palestinian movement. We have a good relationship with the Palestinian movement because their view of the world has a democratic perspective. But unfortunately, they create artificial movements to destroy this movement. I am telling you this because the Palestinian and Kurdish movements have the same fate. In Kurdistan, the Hamas-like Hezbollah (Kurdish, not the Lebanese one) was established and they were killing the Kurdish people. They were also successful. Together with Hamas they are now very large. But I don’t want to be misunderstood. In Palestine there is no justification for raping women, killing children, etc. But for Palestine, Hamas is not a good option for women and children. But most importantly, we need a perspective other than being anti-war. We need to say that we are against genocide, against murder. Germany is very problematic towards the Kurdish people and the Palestinian people. And people are the defenders of truth.

Activist 3:

I will be keeping this short. Let me add that 6 Kurdish TV channels in France were shut down. There were also negative incidents against Kurds in Europe. In Erfurt, a Kurdish refugee committed suicide leaving his wife and 6 children. Another friend who was rejected in Germany drowned in the sea while trying to go to the UK. Many Kurdish refugees committed suicide in the UK. My friends have already talked about the PKK. A mosaic of many people, Armenians, Syrians, Assyrians… When you apply for asylum, it’s as if they give us a kind of test, we must show or prove what we will go through or what we have gone through if we return to Turkey as Kurds or Alevits.

Germany made this dirty deal not to take in refugees with a country where most journalists, human rights defenders, lawyers, majors, etc. are in jail. Germany knows that there is no democracy and justice system in Turkey. But they made these deals, and they ignore the facts because Turkey is a strong NATO ally. As Kurdish refugees in Germany we don’t want positive discrimination. Refugees are all the same. Refugees from the mullah regime in Iran, refugees from Ukraine. But when it comes to Turkey, all European countries will continue their oppressive policies. What should we talk about? We should talk about all the massacres.

All asylum interviews normally take 2 hours but ours takes 6 hours, a whole day. We expect the same treatment as other refugees. When Rojava is being bombed, the West is silent. Europe does not raise its voice when people are imprisoned. If we want a better world, we must defend peace and humanity.

Kürt Karşıtı Irkçılık Hakkında Bilgi Etkinliği 29.04.2024, Berlin

by borderless collective, Arjin und Freunde

Yunan halkı bizi her zaman destekledi.

O-Platz lebt! Stand together – for refugee, migrant rights and climate justice https://www.oplatz.net/o-platz-lebt-stand-together-for-refugee-migrant-rights-and-climate-justice/ https://www.oplatz.net/o-platz-lebt-stand-together-for-refugee-migrant-rights-and-climate-justice/#comments Fri, 28 Feb 2025 22:53:24 +0000 https://www.oplatz.net/?p=16690 Protest camp 1st-31st of March 2025

We come together at O-Platz in March 2025 to fight for the rights of refugees, migrants and climate justice.

We see this month as an opportunity to make our struggle visible by taking space in the middle of people’s daily life. We want to break the isolation and be a place of community, where we have time to connect with each other and organize ourselves. It’s time to give marginalized, minority people the opportunity to speak up and share their story. Together we will listen and educate ourselves and each other on ways to support and protect each other in this system. Furthermore, we will discuss strategies in the fight for a better future which can satisfy the needs and wishes of all humans, as well as the well-being of our planet.

We choose Oranienplatz as our place of resistance due to its history as the site where the movement for refugee rights has been fighting since 2012. Since then, people from all over the world were inspired by the struggle at Oranienplatz, which fought for the freedom of movement, abolition of all lagers, abolition of the Residenzpflicht, to stop all deportations and for the right to work and study. While some successes were reached, much of the progress has been lost in the years since.

Today we see a huge increase in the regulations for deportation. We see how the big political parties like CDU, SPD, Grüne, FDP, BSW are speaking out for fascist ideas of mass deportation, following the course of the right extremist party AFD. We see the police violently beating people protesting on the streets, and  resistance being criminalized. We see how the media is increasingly dehumanizing people of color and making the narrative of “the dangerous migrant”, while ignoring most of the attacks on migrants and femicides happening daily.

They blow up this narrative so much, all the while exporting weapons, committing war crimes and exploiting resources in other countries of the world, especially in the Global South, which is forcing people to leave their homes in the first place.  At the same time multiple other crisis humanity is facing are barely mentioned. The climate crisis is unfolding and the gap between the poor and the rich is growing fast, also increasing poverty all over Germany.

While the climate crisis is still not recognized as a reason to seek asylum, the buildup of Fortress Europe is becoming clearer by the day. If the big political parties follow through with what they are campaigning for in the election, it will mean even more regulations for deportation, even more poverty and militarization and even less effort of stopping the climate crisis and the overuse of the resources of our planet.

We are done following the white men in power driven by money and status and not stopping at any cost. We understand ourselves as a part of the long history of resistance of marginalized people. The time is now to be active and building up a community of struggle where we can counter the fascist policies of the big parties in the following legislative period. Being silent is complicity.

We continue spreading the seeds of resistance and not letting us be divided by the ruling class. We speak up against genocide, against colonization, against apartheid, against the racist and patriarchal system. They are trying to divide us, to make us weak but this won’t work. We will stand together and fight.

Come join us in our month of resistance at Oranienplatz!

WE DEMAND in no particular order:

  1. The closure of all camps in Germany. We fight for better housing solutions and the protection of human rights!

  2. An immediate stop to deportations!

  3. The abolition of the residency requirement!

  4. The abolition of the payment card!

  5. No profit on the backs of refugees!

  6. The recognition of seeking asylum due to climate crisis

You can’t evict a movement…together against CEAS, camps, and deportations https://www.oplatz.net/together-against-ceas-camps-and-deportations/ Mon, 01 Apr 2024 15:34:33 +0000 https://www.oplatz.net/?p=16502 Rally at O-Platz, 9 April, 18:00

Millions of people have taken to the streets in protest against the shift to the right in recent months – often with politicians from the supposed democratic centre in the front row. But despite their lip service to democracy and human rights, current politics in Germany is outdoing itself in its racist fortifications. The current government is appalled by the AfD’s deportation plans, but shortly afterwards adopts its own deportation offensive. The CDU dreams of the Rwanda model and forced labour for refugees. On 10 April, a final vote is held at EU level on the tightening of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS). The reform, which is being driven forward by Germany, will effectively dismantel the right to asylum. We say: You are not the firewall, you are the accelerant!

At the same time, the protest continues. O-Platz reminds us of the many rebellious struggles of the refugee movement and is still a central place of resistance against the continuities of racist violence in Germany and the EU, which continue in the current developments. 8Th of April marks the tenth anniversary of the eviction of O-Platz. However, the struggle against camps, deportations and compulsory residence, which manifested itself on site between 2012 and 2014, lives on: many groups and organisations have formed, jointly developed resistant practices and actively lived solidarity – the anti-racist movement cannot be evicted!

On 9 April, we will therefore gather on O-Platz under the slogan “You can’t evict a movement…together against CEAS, camps and deportations” and take our protest against right-wing migration policies to the streets! We want to gather at O-Platz on this historic date to protest, to commemorate and to talk about the future of common struggles. Together we want to make it clear: The shift to the right cannot be stopped by adopting right-wing narratives and simply implementing right-wing policies ourselves – on the contrary! Anyone who says anti-fascism must also say right to stay and freedom of movement! Opposing the right means stopping the CEAS reform, payment cards and racist deportation policies! Let’s fight against it together!

Kundgebung auf dem O-Platz, 9. April, 18:00
